The Sefid WooCommerce plugin: a chatbot on your shop, without code.
You install the plugin and the chatbot appears on every page of your shop, so you do not need to add any code to your theme. Products and prices reach Sefid by themselves too.
Download the plugin; it is free and works with WooCommerce on WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.
Product catalogue in Sefid
The plugin does this by itself:
- It installs the chatbot without code: The chatbot script is placed on every page of your shop; a customer who is signed in to your shop is recognised in the chat too.
- It keeps products in sync: Every product you create, change or delete reaches Sefid; the first time, the whole catalogue is sent twenty at a time.
- It keeps prices and stock up to date: Price, sale price, stock and colour and size variations travel with the product, so the chatbot never quotes an old price.
- It tracks orders: Order status and tracking code reach Sefid so customers get an answer in the chat. (experimental; off by default)
- It never puts the secret key on the page: The connection runs directly between your shop's server and Sefid and every request is signed; the secret key is never visible on your website.
- It updates itself: New versions are announced in your WordPress dashboard like any other plugin.
Installing it takes four steps:
- 1. Download the plugin file from this page.
- 2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to “Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin”, then install and activate the file.
- 3. In the “Sefid” menu, paste your website's public key and secret key from the Sefid panel and save.
- 4. That is all. The chatbot appears on your shop and product sync starts.
One note before you start:
For each new shop, the Sefid team turns on product sync; after creating your account and adding the keys, ask in the chat on this website and it is turned on for your shop.
If your shop is not on WooCommerce:
The same works through the API: product sync, order status and notices to a signed-in customer. The guide is in the panel, on the “Install on your site” page.
How to download, install and set up the plugin
From creating an account to seeing the chatbot on your shop takes about ten minutes. Follow the steps in this order.
Download
- 1. Create a Sefid account and sign in to the panel; you only need your email and a code.
- 2. In the panel, open the “Install on your site” page and choose “My site runs WordPress”.
- 3. Press “Download the plugin file”. The sefid-kit.zip file is made for your website and holds its connection keys; do not unzip it.
Install
- 4. Sign in to your shop's WordPress dashboard and, in the “Plugins” menu, choose “Add New”.
- 5. Press “Upload Plugin”, choose the same sefid-kit.zip file and press “Install Now”.
- 6. After installing, press “Activate Plugin”. A new item called “Sefid” appears in the dashboard menu.
Set up
- 7. Open the “Sefid” menu; at the top of the page you should see “Connected”.
- 8. Leave “Show the chat on my site” and “Keep my products up to date” switched on and press “Save”. “Let customers track their orders” is experimental for now and stays off.
- 9. A few minutes later, in the Sefid panel, on the same “Install on your site” page, press “Check again”; once the chatbot is seen on your shop, a green tick appears.
- 10. To turn on product sync, ask in the chat on this website; the Sefid team turns it on for your shop.
If it does not work:
- You see “Not connected”
- If you downloaded the file from the top of this page, it has no keys: paste the public key and the secret key from the panel, “Install on your site” page, “With my own API” section, into the “Sefid” menu and save. The plugin works only on the domain you registered in the panel.
- The chatbot does not show on the site
- If you use a caching plugin, clear the cache once and open the page again; “Show the chat on my site” must also be switched on.
- It still does not work
- Write in the chat on this website; the Sefid team will help.
